Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Industry Automation Division, is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with 7 million licensed seats and more than 71,000 customers. PLM is an increasingly important and visible enterprise business strategy that enables an enterprise to fully utilise the skills, expertise, knowledge, experience, creativity and ideas of its people and apply them collaboratively at every stage of the lifecycle.
Siemens-PLM is very experienced in the area of digital manufacturing and its relationships with other enterprise domains, Siemens provide their broad and deep knowledge across the entire scope of FoFdation. In the area of product model enrichment for manufacturing, Siemens brings a wealth of knowledge from CAD/CAM/CAE in order to propose a suitable product model supporting semantic PMI (Product Manufacturing Informations, such as eg tolerances). Siemens is committed to open architectures, the JT format for example has been published by the ISO Organization as a Publicly Available Specification (PAS) and further standardization is currently under way for becoming the ISO 3D archiving standard.
In addition Siemens PLM provide their PLM products in order to leverage the integration of FoFdation results into existing solutions. Finally Siemens is facilitating the building of a virtual factory showcase to demonstrate the MIP - Manufacturing Information Pipeline based on the Teamcenter platform.
Siemens has been participating in another EU research project, CRESCENDO (59 partners including Airbus), which aims to develop new ways to holistically simulate the behaviour of a complete aircraft.
